Famous Anthony's Restaurant Hepatitis A Outbreak

Marler Clark is investigating a hepatitis A outbreak linked to Famous Anthony's Restaurant in Roanoke, Virginia.

Currently, food safety lawyers at Marler Clark represent 28 of the victims in this outbreak.

The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD) announced that RCAHD has identified a total of 52 confirmed primary cases. There have been at least 36 hospitalizations and unfortunately 4 deaths.

An employee who worked at three Famous Anthony’s restaurant locations in Roanoke was diagnosed with hepatitis A. As a result, the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD) announced that anyone who visited any of these three Famous Anthony’s locations, from August 10 through 27 only, may have been exposed:

- 4913 Grandin Road

- 6499 Williamson Road

- 2221 Crystal Spring Ave

"It is always with extreme sadness that we report the death of an individual," said RCAHD health director, Cynthia Morrow, MD, MPH. " This heartbreaking loss of life illustrates how serious this outbreak is. Unfortunately, in this situation, we have seen many individuals experiencing severe disease, and in some cases, their symptoms have continued to progress over weeks."

The RCAHD will continue to investigate and track this outbreak.
